Why Serre Chevalier

5 reasons to visit Serre chevalier this season

3rd August 2018

Why ski in Serre Chevalier, you may ask…

Serre Chevalier is truly a hidden gem in the French Alps, yet it is the 8th largest area. Set in the Southern French Alps and only 1.5 hours from Torino airport, SC is an easy-to-access ski resort that should be high up on your list of resorts to visit.

We’ve put together our favourite 5 reasons why you should consider SC for your next ski holiday.

  • Most trees in France. If you’re like us, and you enjoy a variety of slopes, you’ll be pleased to know that SC has the most tree-lined runs in France. Great for holding the snow, great for the perfect POW picture and great to escape to on white out days!
  • Briancon is a small city (actually the highest city in Europe), at one end of SC valley. Briancon isn’t purpose built, so boasts a lot of history, culture and French cafes. The walled city, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, is certainty worth a visit - a cobbled street full of French shops, boutiques, bars and cafes.
  • Great for non-skiers. If you have a mixed group with some non-skiers, the area is wonderful. Husky rides, ice karting, French markets, traditional shops, snowshoeing, wildlife hunting, thermal spas just to name a few of the activities on offer.
  • No queues. Who enjoys queuing when you’re skiing? Not us and I bet you don’t either! It is VERY rare that you queue for a lift here – even in February half term. SC is still pretty undiscovered, meaning no queues and quiet pistes!
  • Although we have 250km of skiing, SC is still affordable compared to some of the ‘big boy’ resorts. Lift passes, ski hire and lessons are all much cheaper here, as is the accommodation! We offer chalets from just €3,000 per week.
